Here are our top needs for volunteers:
Client/Donor Relationship Coordinator
Establish relationships with clients in person and via other contacts; gather client/donor stories for use in public awareness/relations activities; make follow-up contacts with clients; provide acknowledges and thank-you’s for donor gifts; maintain up-to-date photographic and video records of New Digs Ministry’s work.
Maintain timely and accurate information on clients served and materials provided to clients; maintain accurate inventory records; run daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports of New Digs Ministry’s service activities.
Sorting — Linens and Housewares
Sorting donated items such as sheets, pillow cases, blankets, etc., and separating them by mattress size. Then sets are made up consisting of sheets, pillow cases and a blanket. Towels sets including bath towel, washcloth and hand towels are put together for clients to choose from. House ware volunteers sort dishes, cookware, glasses, cups, small kitchens appliances and silverware. This job gives you a sense of organization and accomplishment.
Community Outreach Committee
Help with initiatives designed to promote New Digs Ministry to the business community; develop partnerships and sustain relationships with local businesses; maintain contact with the New Digs Board of Directors. This is a good opportunity for a volunteer with an outgoing personality and effective communication skills.
We are active on Social Media and are constantly updating our website. Do you have tech or Public Relations experience? Then you could be a good fit to help us with this.
We will provide OSHA training required to operate in the Mission Central warehouse; must be comfortable operating a high-reach lift in crowded warehouse conditions; must be diligent in safe operations of machinery.
Design and administer events to raise money for operating expenses; recruit volunteers to assist with events; coordinate activities with the Marketing Committee and the Board of Directors.
Donation Pick-up Driver and Assistant
Must be comfortable driving a 20′ box truck (no CDL needed) to make local pick-ups and able to move furniture to the lift gate. Must have a valid PA driver’s license and clean driving record. Helpful to have a flexible schedule in order to accommodate pick-up needs.
Must be comfortable working in busy warehouse; must be physically able to move and handle a variety of materials with the assistance of pallet jacks; requires a personable demeanor in working with clients.
